  What is an HRA?

 

An HRA is an employer funded arrangement that creates accounts for participating employees in which certain substantiated medical expenses for the employee (and their spouse/dependents) are reimbursed up to his or her account balance.

 

With the increasing cost of medical insurance, many employers are choosing High Deductible Health Plans (HDHP), in combination with HRA Plans to offset a higher deductible. Other employers may institute a "Stand Alone HRA" for certain expenses such as vision, or dental (and other types of expenses) in addition to all existing benefit plans.
